Hi,
Do you think that i could put a 42 plasma on my small living room (10,5 feet x 8,3 feet)? The couch and the tv are on the 10 feet walls, because the 8f are window and an open area.... I´ve calculated the distance from the middle of the screen to the eye line of persons seated on the couch and came out: 6,8 - 7 feet.
Is that distance ok? I plan to watch cable and dvd´s...
Thanks in advance.

My wife and I sit about 7 feet from our Panny ED, and we enjoy it. It's a little close for an EDTV sometimes (I notice SDE on some fine lines), but if you're getting an HD you should be fine.
My suggestion is you head to a local B&M, find a 42" plasma, and have staff bring you a chair. Just sit at your viewing distance you'll have at home for 10-15 minutes, see if anything bothers you, etc.
That's what my wife and I did at both a Tweeters and a Best Buy before we bought our unit. :)
Good luck!

JuiceRocket gave you good advice. For a little additional information, this (http://www.myhometheater.homestead.com/viewingdistancecalculator.html) might be informative.
yeah, i´ve tried that calculator on the site.... it´s pretty cool. on my measurments, it gave me an angle of 25 degrees (still inside the minimum distance thx, of 36 degrees, and maximum distance, of 26 deg). The dillema is this: i live in brazil, and prices here are quite expensive for any given tv size from 27 up. On my budget, i can only choose between a 32 lcd or a 42 plasma, that are on the exact same price. 37 lcd is about 500-700 us dollars more... and the minimum plasma size here is 42.
Sooo, here is my question: for a viewing distance of 6.5 - 7 feet, what would you choose???
42 plasma or 32 lcd

jeez for 10 feet it says i need a 68" screen....WOW....I have a 46" and was concerned that was too big..I measured 68" and that is pretty extreme...I know my wife would never have gone for that...she wanted a 42" as it is..
