So are they all 24bit? If they are, there should be a very noticeable difference between the core track, and the lossless track when you have something that can decode it?

Yes, at least Fox has done right by giving us lossless audio on every title. Now if they would just start releasing again that would be even better.

In the mean time, I am hoping that all of this down time has given them plenty of opportunity to prepare many titles for hi-def release. They should have quite a bundle prepared by now.

When they do start releasing again we may end up with a flood of Fox titles.

or we could just get a resumption of their previously announced slate with just a few scattered surprises.
I don't think Blu-ray has the replication capacity yet to support any kind of 'flood'.

Hopefully someday the hardware will allow us to hear these lossless tracks....

Yeah - Fox really had the consumer in mind when they released all their titles with a lossless codec that nobody can decode!

They should have gone with uncompressed PCM for the early titles, and then phase in DTS HD-MA as and when the technology exists to decode it.

Wishful thinking but perhaps thay have used the downtime to re-encode and release on PCM or TrueHD. Now that would be a step forward.

yeah, hoping they have all the encodes done and are just waiting for the BD+ to finalize to port to disc rather than starting from scratch.

I'm happy that Fox included lossless audio that future receivers will decode rather than stick us with titles that have no lossless at all. They are future-proofing their titles rather than being like Paramount and sticking us with recycled Dolby Digital.

Agreed, except they aren't future proofing us with PQ. 18 mbps on 50GB discs is unacceptable, IMO. I won't buy any more Fox titles unless they are at least 24 mbps MPEG-2 or 18 mbps AVC.
