I've been waiting on the relase of the next generation dual disk players from Toshiba or one from Samsung. Hopefully I will be buying one before the end of the year.

Is there a problem going HDMI out of the player, into a DVI on a Lumagen, then out via RGBHV to a CRT projector?

The issue you will run into is that the HDCP digital copy protection on a HD-DVD or Blu-ray disk won't allow the high def player to output a signal. Lumagen supports HDCP and isn't an "HDCP stripper". You need to hook up a HDCP compliant display with a HDMI or DVI digital input.

Check to see if there is a digital input card with HDCP available for your CRT projector. This is the best, possibly legal, solution for owners of CRT projectors. I've also heard that some owners of CRT projectors have found other solutions to their HDCP problem.

Consult your local installer.

I thought this had been brought up before with the Lumagen in this forum, but a search did not find anything. Seemed to me that if the HDCP encryption was set then the Lumagen would not output over analog.

Basically, I have all of the inputs except the DVI full. So was wondering if there is a way to use what was left.

That is correct. The Lumagen needs to have a HDCP compliant digital display hooked up to it's output in order to display an image if HDCP encryption is set. The analog output will be turned off when a HDCP encrypted signal is being output from the digital output.

Are Blu-Ray and HDDVD supposed to work at all for (analog) CRT HDTV's?

How well does yours work with 1080i (analog) component video from the player to the Lumagen, and the usual RGBHV from the Lumagen to the TV?

If current Blu-Ray/HDDVD players are not intended to so work for any disk and you haven't bought yet, you might prefer to hold off buying until a solution is resolved and appropriate players are marketed.

I have been running an X-Box 360 with the add-on. Component to the Lumagen. The 1080i and 1080p to a Nec XG135. The picture at 1080i is impressive. I have watched a few DVDs and am hooked.
