Kal Rubinson 06-14-07, 02:53 PM What are your goals/needs/budget? clawlan 06-14-07, 02:58 PM What are your goals/needs/budget? well, just built a new home theatre consisting of 50" plasma, onkyo reciever, 5.1 surround, hd-dvd, videogame consoles, etc. I would like something that cleans up the power coming from the wall, that I can plug everything into. I would like to stay $200 or under, but am flexible. tmnjus 06-14-07, 04:29 PM Check out the Belkin PureAV Home Theater PF60 Power Console. Very highly rated. List price is between $600 and $750 (depending on who you believe), but can be found for under $200. I have 2 of these. Brown Radagast 06-14-07, 05:31 PM I remember someone mentioning something about those conditioners that musicians use for their instruments being just as good for use with A/V equipment, is there anyone using those, and if so, are they more affordable than the usual A/V offering of power conditioners? dmoeller17 06-14-07, 07:14 PM look at the furman website, its what i have clawlan 06-14-07, 07:33 PM look at the furman website, its what i have Whats the difference between the regular series and the "i" series? Like "Reference" and "Reference i"? rgroves 06-14-07, 08:20 PM I hope I don't get in trouble for this.... If you're looking at the Belkin do some searching on other deal sites (*cough* Fatwallet or Anantech *cough*) for information that can save you 40% on their stuff. The information has actually been around for over 2 years and still works. I got a 1500VA UPS a year ago, and I just ordered more stuff using the same info, and it worked. Unless you are sure, you might be better served with a whole-house surge protector (more effective because it is close to house-ground) and an outlet strip. Just a thought. davidscher 06-16-07, 09:39 PM I too am looking for a power center of some sort. What I really need, however, is one with high current power ports that are switched by a remote lead from my receiver. Does anyone know of a good solution that is hopefully around $200. I hav been considering the PureAV PF60 and the Panamax 5100-EX. I can get the PureAV for cheaper but I don't know if another $50 or so is worth it for the Panamax. Thanks in advance. Kal Rubinson 06-17-07, 11:11 AM I've used both and the Belkin offers UPS which the Panamax does not. However, the Panamax is equally good for protection and, in my samples, much quieter. In reviewing the specs for the pf60, I have not seen that it has a UPS. Is that unadvertised? rgroves 06-21-07, 07:25 AM THe next model up on the Belkin stuff has a UPS. The PF60 is just a power conditioner - NO UPS. Kal Rubinson 06-21-07, 08:04 AM THe next model up on the Belkin stuff has a UPS. The PF60 is just a power conditioner - NO UPS.Ah. I used the one with the UPS which worked but made noise from the chassis. riceaterslc 06-21-07, 11:38 PM Looks good. But I wish it was black... like this? http://www.ecost.com/detail.aspx?edp=36615656 :) i also use the PF60. quite happy with it, i have a lot of surges here, lose power at like twice a month, my equipment always fires right back up. cnickersonjr 06-22-07, 04:34 AM like this? http://www.ecost.com/detail.aspx?edp=36615656 :) i also use the PF60. quite happy with it, i have a lot of surges here, lose power at like twice a month, my equipment always fires right back up. What's the difference between yours and this one? (http://www.ecost.com/detail.aspx?edp=2634436) cnickersonjr 06-22-07, 04:37 AM The only differences I see is one is black, and $70 more! riceaterslc 06-23-07, 04:37 AM What's the difference between yours and this one? (http://www.ecost.com/detail.aspx?edp=2634436) i have a silver one. when i purchased mine i didn't know they had black ones, and even that i know now i don't think its worth another 70 bones for just a different color. i will probably just paint mine. rgroves 06-23-07, 08:06 AM ECost defintely has the lowest price on th PF40 and PF60 (even lower than my Belkin Friends and Family Code "12345"). I just bought the PF60 for $187 shipped from eCost, in silver. The $70 is not worth the black face plate. BTW - What's a good paint to use on the face of the Sliver one, that won't scratch easily or chip/flake off after a while? cnickersonjr 06-23-07, 05:41 PM Thanks for your response. rgroves 06-25-07, 08:00 AM WOW, I just looked this morning and the PF60 is now $270..... That's $120 higher than is was over the weekend.   I hope my order still goes through. EDIT - #$%)#&^@(*^ Son-Of-A-b*tch !!! eCost, just canceled my order !! I called to ask why and they said it was because they were out of Stock. I informed then their site says it's in stock, but $120 more expensive. They responded with, That's because it was "a hot deal sale" and those are no longer available. When I tried to tell them no where on the site did it say this item was "a hot deal" and his reply was, that's because the sale is over. I tried to tell him that it was like that ALL LAST WEEK and the weekend, but it fell on deaf ears. I was then asked if I would give them my credit card info, we'll process a new order for the ones that are in stock. And I asked if it would be at the price I originally placed the order for or the higher price, and of course it was the higher price. What a load of crap. The site showed it in stock all weekend, and then mysteriously it was out of stock, and they canceled my order, but by the time I called them they were back in stock, but at a higher price. That's some really shady "bait and switch" they are pulling. While it was still lower than Belkin's site (with the 40% off), I'm not sure if I want to spent the extra $$$ to get it. I'll just stick with the UPS I'm going to put on my HTPC and let everything else on an APC Surge protector. wonderboy111 10-30-07, 08:06 PM I found a Belking PureAV PF31 for a great price AND it's black! Does anyone have any experience with that model? Also, did I read that Belkin will only recognize the warranty if you buy it through an authorized retailer? I'm wondering if that big river site is one? |
