Can somebody please tell me what FOX is thinking for this weeks games?

http://msn.foxsports.com/other/story/5619630

If you click on that link you will see that the only game they are producing in HD this week is the Angels/Dodgers game and only 7% of the country will get that game. Why would you produce a game in HD that less than 10% of the country will be able to see. Just makes no sense to me and thought I would vent a little.

Maybe it is thinking it has subjected the LA area to far too many Red Sox, Yankees and Mets games in HD and are, finally, throwing us an HD bone.

But more likely, since the Friday night Angels-Dodgers game is being shown in HD on NewsCorp-owned FSN Prime Ticket, it probably is the least expensive game to do in HD.

Fox does their other games in wide screen. They look amazing. No HD is not that big a deal on Fox Saturday Baseball.

To be honest, Fox's HD game looks a slight upgrade over their widescreen games this year. That's a tribue I guess to the improved widescreen broadcast but the HD picture just plan sucks.

how can you boston fans, who are used to seeing every game on NESN in HD, be so complacent about fox's widescreen SD. i think it sucks, end of story. their HD sucks too, but at least its HD and i can almost make out the players numbers.

btw: fox promised us that 'most' games will be in HD. has there been a week there they've shown more than one game in HD?

I can't think of any week where more than 1 game was shown in HD. I know there has been at least one or two weeks where no games where in HD. FOX stinks. Why are they so cheap. Just unreal.

Well... this is the first season they've ANY HD regular season MLB games.

You can't expect everything at once.

Nope. Just one per week, and going forward (at least for this season), I believe that's all they plan on doing. Like others, I wonder how this qualifies as "most?"

I wish Fox would stop putting the Sox on so I could watch on NESN in HD. I hate Fox

Well, start losing and you won't be on Fox anymore. Is that what you want?

FYI... Schedule is set at the start of the season.

Changes aren't normally made mid season (Although they do like to drop a game occasionally)

Yeah, I know that. But, if a team is lousy, they won't be on in the future. When is the last time you saw the Royals or Devil Rays on Fox? Hence, what I said about "start losing" and you won't be on Fox anymore in the future. I wasn't talking about next week.

They still show the Cubs.

Its all about the # of fans nationwide.

Red Sox will always have plenty - and are guaranteed to continue to have it - no matter how bad they get

I'm a Cardinals fan and it killed me to see the Sox sweep my Cards in '04 but if they're on in HD, I'm more likely to watch them than any other team (other than my faves: St. Louis, Houston, and Texas).

They're the only team I don't really root for that I'll watch if they're in HD.

Is anyone getting the Sox - Giants game in widescreen? I'm watching it on WLUK Green Bay and it's in 4x3. I think it's a local problem but I called the switchboard and had them pass a message along to engineering and it hasn't switched yet.

It would be nice if the games they are claiming are in HD looked anywhere near as good as the HD post season games they've shown the past two years. Also, the all-star games they've shown. I play my old recordings back now and compare them to these so-called HD games they're currently airing, and it's obvious that the quality has gone way downhill. It will be interesting to see if the picture quality goes back up during the post season this year, or stays at this "barely distinguishable from widescreen SD upconvert" level they're using now . . .

Here in NY, we are getting 4:3. For about 3 pitches in the 2nd inning, we got widescreen. But atleast with WS, we got 5.1.

I personally don't see why it would change -- all the gear they're using now is likely to be same through the post-season. I totally agree though that the difference between the HD games and SD widescreen games is minimal. I'd characterize it at about 25%. Should be more on the order of (being conservative) 300%. There should never be a need a for thread where people wonder if it's SD or HD.

The bizarre thing I am seeing (hearing) is that their audio on the Braves @ Indians game, is ahead of the video. You literally hear the ball hit the mitt BEFORE seeing the catcher catch it. Same for hits, you hear the ball hit the bat, THEN see the ball hit the bat. Absolutely strange and ONLY happening on the Fox broadcast.
