I'm going to upgrade my denon 2200 actually to another room.Trying to figure out which player 2900 or 3910 would be the best option.Audio is the primary concern, since i have a tosh HDa1 for video.I do like to listen to lots of sacd/dvda so again audio is more important.thanks
PS: can't afford the 3930ci so thats not an option.

The 3910 has better audio DACs than the 2900 or 2930.

If audio is your priority and you have a HD player, why don't you buy a dedicated CD player or if you still desire video, save a few dollars and buy and entry level Marantz or Rotel, both will best Denon as a CD player.

You can't hear SACD or DVD-A with a regular CD player. The 2930 is a good choice for the money. I have the 2900 and its very good too.

I definately want to keep sacd/dvda.I have a cd player marantz cc4300 and it's ok.How does the 2930 compare to the 3910?Also thru the yrs i always heard the 2900 was exceptional, which is why i was asking between the 2900 and 3910 oiginally.

The 2200 has the same DACs as the 2910 and 2930, so that is NOT a step up for you. The 2900 has better DACs than the 2200, and the 3910 has even better DACs than the 2900 (same as the 3930). Thus, I would go with the 3910 if I was you (come to think of it, I did).

Marantz has a universal player in a mid to lower price point, all the 600's series are universal players. The 7600 could also be had under $500......personally, I think Denon sounds pretty bad, I have had two 2900's, two 2200's and a 3800. It all depends what you consider good sounding and what your associated equipment is, in fairness to Denon, most DVD players don't sound that great.

You guys put me in a real dilemna now.The marantz is a thought but dont know how they compare to the denon universal's.

That's kind of the key problem for me too. The Marantz may have better sound, but the Faroudga (bad spelling) is notably inferior in video to the Denon solutions.

True, I would avoid the Faroudja........maybe the Marantz 7600 would be a good call.

I think i may not even bother with marantz as good as they may be,going into the menu everytime i want to play sacd/dvda and then back would be a pain, and could get old real quick.

The 3910 also uses Faroudja, but he is mainly interested in audio (he already has the A1 for video). Besides the 3910, also check out the Pioneer Elite 79ai.
