i have two sa 8000hd dvrs which i use for movies and concerts mainly. i sometimes record a dvd of a movie off hd/net movies, mojo, or starz. the 8000hds have a aspect ratio control which allows me to record anamorphic content onto my toshiba dr2 dvd recorders. this a/r control works fine on content from hd channels, sci-fi sd, and a few other sd channels. on channels such as tcm(turner classic movies), fox movie channel, and most other sd channels that show letterboxed widescreen content the anamorphic squeeze function works but it vertically squeezes the image too much so that on w/s playback the image is taller than on the hd, sci-fi (sd), or the other w/s sd channels. this is using the s video circuits. all of this suggests to me that the squeeze function is a function of the channel, not just the format. iow, i dont have a clue. does anybody have an idea of whats going on here? thanx.
