jasonstiller 06-15-07, 01:42 PM Man, dont remid me of this waste of time. Both me and my 6 yo fell asleep halfway through this thing. Most of these CGI movies coming out are just a reason for disney/pixar ect.. to make money

I hate to point this out, but that's the reason they make pretty much all major movies, good or not.
maingon 06-15-07, 04:32 PM Seen this in 3d and was one of the worst movies in years. It felt like the writers just threw Ideas up at the screen and seen if they stuck. theres no direction and wasnt even visual interesting,

Well, Meet the Robinson's was not a Pixar production. I don't consider a single film those folks produce to be focused on anything but top notch story telling and animation. They are savvy enough to know that dollars flow consistently when they produce films with a reputation based on quality. Just like all filmmaking, there is alot of really badly executed CGI being foisted on an unsuspecting public that just assumes it is all produced by Pixar. Not every tissue I blow my nose in happens to be Kleenex brand. That is why they are rolling out Ratatouille with advertisements that remind movie-goers of their past achievements; Toy Story, Toy Story 2, A Bug's Life, Finding Nemo, Monsters, Inc., Cars and my personal favorite, Brad Bird's The Incredibles. The recent aquisition of Pixar by Disney and the placement of key Pixar visionaries like John Lasseter in oversight and top management positions should ensure that all animated fare that bears the Disney name in the future will be of the same quality Walt himself would have desired.
There are also a few smaller and very talented animation houses like Blue Sky Studios that have turned out terrific titles like Ice Age and Robots.
Hey Warner Bros., How 'bout servin' up Brad Bird's wonderful adaptation of The Iron Giant on Blu-ray real soon? Pretty please! Oh and you folks over at Fox, please get your keisters moving on high definition offerings of Don Bluth's Secret of N.I.M.H, Anastasia and Titan A.E.
Hell yeah, The Iron Giant! I'd buy that for sure.

He's gotta big head, and little arms!
:D
My wife wanted to see this movie for that line alone! While it is nowhere near the quality of a Pixar film, I still enjoyed it and will pick it up on blu-ray. I also 2nd the vote for The Iron Giant, probably my favorite non-disney 2D animation.

In all fairness, they did buy Pixar in time enough for John Lasseter and company to make them totally rework Meet the Robinsons.
Granted, obviously that didn't help the film that much.
Otherwise I agree, Pixar's films are on a different level of quality of your average CG fare. But they did have some influence on this one, though it was kind of an after the fact thing.

The folks at Walt Disney Feature Animation were kind of hoping that John Lasseter and Co. might have some ideas about how to get Meet the Robinsons' story back on track but to blame them for the muddled mess isn't quite fair. They had little to nothing to do with its development and production. Thank goodness they came on board in time to kill Toy Story 3 until it is properly developed.
I will still get it in HD... Why not? :D
SheepFactory 06-16-07, 02:45 AM I liked it a lot so it's a definite purchase for me. I can't wait for surf's up and ratatouille on BR too.

MASrules 06-16-07, 05:15 PM I did like this one, but I liked most other Disney movies better. I will definately pick this one up.
