How can I hide my Main Speakers, center channel, sub, and component rack with a fake front wall? my screen would also hang from this wall

anyone have a basic sketch or picture on how it would be done in theory?

I've seen this countless time but I just get such a kick out of it every time! I love it. Jeff, what kind of ventilation do you have in there.... I bet I could find out if I went through your thread huh?

A typical way would be to frame a light wall and hang acoustically transparent fabric and an acoustically transparent screen on it. Are any of your speakers going to be behind your screen?

Check out the Show us your screen walls thread (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=769702) for some examples.

Thanks I never get tired of showing off. If only I had a decent construction thread.

As for ventilation. First there is an 18 inch door to the hallway on the side providing access to the back and I often just leave it wide open.

When it's just me and the Misses I often just leave the front open as well. Otherwise I have a ceiling exhaust vent with a nearly silent Fantech in-line duct fan controled by an attic fan thermostat. It is vented to the outdoors.

I'm planning to build a "proscenium" on my screen wall. Basically, I'll frame a big box under the screen from side to side, two big boxes on either side of the screen up to the ceiling and maybe a little box above the screen from side to side. All these boxes will be framed with 2x2s and then covered with something like speaker grill cloth. I'll put the center and the sub in the lower box and the left and right speakers in the sided boxes. The side boxes will also have bass traps in them. I think someone put a pic of their proscenium on my thread.

My equipment is in the next room. I bought an IR remote extender so my remotes can talk to them.

How did you manage to open that door without right-side moldings on the door and wall running into each other?

It's been a couple of years since someone last asked that question. First thing right off is that I cheated.

I had a small piece of moulding that I put to the right of the column and removed it to open the door. I put it in place for Photos. But I got tired of that so:

Currently I have a flat piece of plastic painted to match the moulding that hardly anyone notices:

Then the return part of the molding on the side of the column is trimmed back a bit.

On the column to the left of the screen I just use for storage and I don't access it very often so I just made the front and return moldings as one piece and attached with velcro. When I need access I just remove the molding.

If I ever were to do this again I would make the fixed part of the sides of the columns deeper and I would have more clearance to work with.

As far as the speakers go, id look into and SMX frame and screen. I have it and its amazing. As far as hiding the components, if I had the extra width I totally would do something like DC did above, that looks absolutely amazing
