So I'm at the point were I have to make a final decision on how I'm going to run my video and sub-woofer wires. I'm down to two choices:

Monoprice or make my own using Belden 1694a w/ ??? connectors.

The 25-ft video lines will probably be fine with Monoprice since I will only have about 6" extra. I can live with that.

I would think this Monoprice digital interconnect (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10236&cs_id=1023602&p_id=2684&seq=1&format=2&style=) would be fine for the subwoofers, except I need 40-ft lines. not 35 or 50ft. Can I remove the RCA plug from one end and 'custom' make my cable to the needed length? I don't know if the premium RCA plugs are crimped on, screw/solder or just what. Worst scenario would be that I just cut the cable to desired length and install a new RCA plug. This will be an inwall run terminating at a wall plate, so I don't really care if the ends are different. I just figure this might be a lot less expensive/less time than going 1694a route.

So can someone who has a Monoprice premium cable check to see (or a picture :) ) how they attached the RCA plug to their cable?

I just ordered some cables last month and it looks like the sub cable ends are crimped on.

Why not just coil the excess cable somewhere out of sight and live with the 50 foot cable? The ten extra feet won't affect the sound of your subwoofer and it'll save you having to deal with cutting the cable and attaching a new plug.

Thats exactly what I did. I thought a 35 was gonna be a little short, so I went 50 and just left the access at the rack. No signal loss and no hassle.
