It's not clear what you intend to use for cables.

If you use the Sub1 output, you can just use RCA connections from the Anthem to the RCA input on the sub and be done.

Or do you have a second sub, in which case you can run them each of the Sub1/Sub2 RCA outputs from the Anthem.

Just be sure to tell the anthem in configuration how you're setting it up in the speaker configuration menu.

Does this help?

Sorry, that's not something I can help with as I'm not familiar with using XLR's.

You only need to use one I believe. You should be using the out on your Anthem to the in on the sub. Or the output from sub to input on Anthem. It doesn't matter if you use L or R however, just use one of them. Unless you're gonna be having the sub an extremely long distance away from the Reciever (60ft<) then I wouldn't use XLR, unless you are a true audiophile. :)

It essentially makes NO difference. You can get a nice, inexpensive MIC cable at a music store in case you don't already have an XLR-type cable.

IF you use 2 of either cable (3-pin or RCA) since the bass is mono all you are doing is summing the 2 signals into a 6dB stronger one.
Then again, you MIGHT be one of those people using or attempting to use stereo bass, but I am not 100% sure without looking if the Anthem 20 will do that.

And you do realize that both Switchcraft and Neutrik CRINGE violently every time someone says the word XLR...
