Thinking about a way to automate some 'pre-show' tasks with my Apple TV. Until now, as suggested by many others in these forums, I use a 2nd DVD player to play my preshow movies (custom intro, slideshow, trailers, etc) and then switch to the primary DVD player when it's time to watch the movie.

With an ATV, I thought this might make this much easier since I could eliminate the need to burn anything to a disc and, instead, just sync/stream the preshow content to my ATV.

My question is, does anybody know how to invoke that content from an activity-based remote (i use the Logitech Harmony 1000)? I envision creating an activity called 'start preshow' which would switch all the inputs on the projector, receiver, etc to the ATV and then start a script or a playlist that plays whatever content I want.

any thoughts as to how this might be accomplished? or is there an easier way that I am missing? any help would be appreciated.
