I'm looking to find a sub that sounds great, and that can really thump. I just bought a Samsung 46" DLP and I am moving my room into the basement of my house.(I'm 17 live w/ dad, so his house). I already am taken care of with speakers, reciever and cables and everything, but I'm looking to find a good sub to complete the department. I'm buying an up converting dvd player, the samsung that does 1080p and ordering a nice HDMI cable from newegg, i already have a HD digital cable box from time warner so I'm totally set. I just need this one last thing. I figured someone could atleast point me to a quality subwoofer in this price range, i know its measly compared to you high rollers here but its about what i have left after buying so much, i don't have a 9-5, just school and what ive saved.

The rooms rather large but it doesn't need to fill it all, i have a nice spot in the corner reserved, but i was hoping for a 10-12 incher, but i guess a really nice 8 could maybe do it? anyways im open to suggestions. Thanks

I found one i seem to like, its the BIC H-100, $249 + $29 shipping online

any words of caution or advice? does this seem like a good option?

Ive been doing the same search, and I think I've come to the decision of the Onix X-sub. Check out my thread; H-100 vs. Velodyne. It has some opinions on this topic.

I don't have the X-sub or the Bic but they are both highly respected. The Bic might give you a little better thump from what I have heard. If you step up to the ~$300 then you can get a used SVS PB10. That is a really nice clean sub for the money. I just bought that one and it is fabulous for movies.

Go with the Onix X-sub or a Elemental Design A2-250. Only issue is that the ED sub is hideous looking and the X-sub is a work of art. The ED will definitely be better than both X-Sub and H100 as far as HT. Between x-sub and h100, the x-sub is smaller, cleaner output, more accurate, more musical and lags marginally in the HT dept. Being that it is a 8" driver compared to 12" H100, you definitely know onix has done its research and is using quality parts.
