Watching the race and it really looks bad. Is anyone else having this problem?

Horrible, horrible pq.

It looks really bad for me too, on Tucson Cox. On the zoomed in shots of the cars going by, there are trails of the cars colors after they pass, and many other digital artifacts.

Thanks, checked both my tv's and both bad. I got directv, so it must be TNT's broadcast. It's the worst I haved ever seen it.

I hope they fix it. Not a very auspicious start for NASCAR on TNT this year.

It seems to be the cameras. Some of the in-car shots look ok but track cameras are very bad.

Commercials are normal (for TNT on D*).

Looking forward to ESPN taking over.

Looks terrible via D*. Last week on TNT from Pocono looked better even with the rain.

The worst I've seen.

At first I thought it was Directv till I checked in here. Great show when Hamlin in the #11 car comes and goes under the fence. It's bleeding all over the place. Thanks for the free acid trip TNT.

Since I had another unrelated issue I wanted to discuss with D* I called and asked them about it and the CSR said TNT is aware and are working on it.

Yeah I'm seeing the bleeding also on D*. This kinda reminds me when NBC was sending the Talledega race last year at like 15 mbps instead of ~45.

In a related note, I can't tell which PQ worse, this race or the US Open.

I wonder if their goofy pylon graphics aren't part of the problem.

That is the part that's making it bad. You can't say "the PQ is great, if you remove the blocking, bleeding, etc."

I was also surprised when a resolution change occured when local commercials were inserted. It went from 1080i to 480i. Hadnt seen that before.

That is without a doubt the WORST HD presentation I have EVER seen. If I would have know it was going to be that bad I would have watched the SD channel.

Yeh just got done watching the race and it looked bad... I almost switched back to TNT regular on Dish. (but that is just a blurry mess like all the reg def. stuff is with them)

I thought NHL on NBC was bad, but this tops that by a mile!

I doubt it. It would be down stream of the mobile unit. Do you really believe that the TNT engineers would let crappy quality out? 99.9% of ugliness from an HD broadcast can be attributed to downstream of the origination point.

GOOD POINT...none the less TNTHD has to get the picture quality problems fixed.......I can no longer watch Nascar in SD :confused: :(

Guys, not sure if this is related, but I saw the same thing today. I also saw the problem when watching some HD movies earlier. I thought there was something wrong with my cable (Cox CT), but I think it's something with TNT in general and not just the NASCAR race.

I don't think it matters if the problem is from TNT or our providers. Either way TNT should be the ones concerned. I know that HBO has some sort of deal were the provider guarantees Xmbs to broadcast their channel... or something like that.

It was so bad early in the race, that my wife noticed it.

Well the TNTHD version on my Dish 622 looked just as crappy as everyone else commented. It was nearly unwatchable. The commercials were doing it to a lesser extent, so it wasn't their cameras. It seemed worse during fast motion. I wondered if it was due to the difference between a 1080i signal and Fox's 720p on my 720p DLP. So I'm sort of glad everyone else saw the same thing. At least I know it isn't my equipment.

The broadcast on Comcast cable was horrible. I thought it might be the box since I picked it up earlier in the week. I watched the previous race without the box and it was much better.

I picked up the box because my qam tuner had video but no audio on TNT HD. I ran audio from a vcr to my stereo but the video delay of between five and ten seconds drove me nuts. If I had thought about having my dvr delay the audio, I might have not picked up the box.

Noticed the same thing here in Dallas from Time Warner, I turned the color all the way up on my tv to see if it was the feed or TV and the pixelation was terrible. I had to almost watch it in B&W to keep from getting dizzy.

PQ was pretty poor, but then there were some really good shots. over all i give it a below average rating.

I had a sad, sad Nascar day today. I'm having back surgery a week from tomorrow and gave my Brickyard tickets to my Aunt and Uncle. [tear] [tear] I'll atleast get to watch the race in HD on ESPN.

Agreed. TNT HD sucks! It totally ruined my enjoyment of the race. I miss Fox with DW!!! I hope they get their act together...they actually are broadcasting 8 more races (10 total) then ESPN takes over.

I stand corrected....it IS 4 more races on TNT! Yay! That's a relief! :D It's not only the PQ issues...but the broadcast team leaves a lot to be desired and the inconsistency and randomness of their commercial breaks is annoying to put it mildly. Well, at least I can watch the replay on HDNet on Thursday. I am sure the PQ will be much better.

Then why can't they do something with the stretch-o-vision and HD showing on every program? If someone from TNT does read it this forum they need to realize what kind of travisty they are doing to HD.

A number of the cameras were SD cameras (mostly the ones showing the wide shots) which was upconverted to 1080i - at least that is what it looked like to a number of us who were hoping for a good HD experience.
