I just got my Sony HDR-SR7 and i am having some problems with NERO and making AVCHD DVD's

When i connect my SR7 to my tv and watch the clips the video looks amazing and runs smoothly. Then i transfer the clips to my pc hard drive and then i use NERO to make an AVCHD DVD. The clips seem to stutter a bit and do not look as clear and smooth as when i hook the camera up directly to my tv.

Does this happen in the transfer from the file to the disc? Is my computer too slow (Pentium Extreme 3.2 Dual Core with 2gb of ram with Dual SLI 256mb Nvidia graphics cards)?

thanks for the help

I have an AMD 4400 X2, with dual 7800GTX's and it's too slow to play back hdr-sr1 clips smoothly. I had to get an Nvidia 8500 video card, which has special hardware acceleration in order to get smooth playback. The PS3 also plays it back fine.

What kind of player did you use?

My laptop (1.6G/512MB) plays AVCHD( downloaded sample of SR7 cause i don't have the camera now) smoothly using VCL player. But when I use media player, it was quite stutter.

I am using the player that comes with NERO 7. For some reason VCL keeps crashing my computer.

When i copy the files to make an AVCHD using Nero and play it back on my PS3 it still stutters. Shouldn't it play smoothly on the PS3?

Now if i just make a Data DVD and copy the files right onto a DVD and then put that in my PS3 everything is fine and the HD picture looks amazing.

The only explanation is that:

NERO's fault ...

There are still lots to do to improve the software to deal with AVCHD...

Try installing the free K-Lite codec. It and the Classic Media Player that comes with might help out. AVCHD is new so yes it will take a while for support to be ubiquitous. It took a good year or two for HDV to get right and some software still is plagued with problems in that area. Complain to NERO too. They have a support email section where you can note bugs, etc. You may not get a reply (other than the auto responder) but it might alert them to fix for the next release.

K. Thanks i am going to try the KLITE and send an email over to NERO support.
