Ebay

A Miami company is selling 35 mm reconditioned government surplus (mine was US Navy) film strip projectors for a starting bid of $9.95 plus $30 shipping. Mine was $9.95. There appear to be a lot and they are offered every few days.

Combine that with a few 35 mm trailers from anywhere from $5.00 to $15.00 each, and you have a nice display. Ten's of sellers and movie choices on any given day.

I bought Dances With Wolves and American Pie.

Suggestion - Get ones with printed labels from the studios, not a handwritten label.

Any links?

found some on ebay using search terms from original post, but can't post the link (forum policy or just technical inability?)

Appear to be film STRIP projectors, which will likely suffice as a prop although I'd prefer one that actually held the reels. They are probably out there for cheap, but I'm not looking now because I'm not ready to accessorize the home theater room I still haven't finished. Oy!!

Enjoy.

search this on the ebay search engine

35mm Projector great for Trailer Frames MIB AS NEW
or
35mm trailer

btw- it is army surplues, not navy as i had originally said

yes it is a strip projector.
while a full size 35 mm projector with hugh reals would be more realistic, I don't have the space to display one

Barry:

Thanks for the heads up on the projectors. I placed a bid. A quick question...is there an audio outlet on the projector to run the audio via stereo or mono cable into a receiver...or is it just a built in speaker on the projector?

Did you buy a splicer to splice several trailers together. I was looking at putting together a grouping of drive-in intermission, psa and commercials into a single reel to create a drive-in intro for our outdoor theater. I assume splicing would be fairly straightforward with the proper equipment.

Any feedback or FAQ type info is appreciated...so us newbs could get started on this facet of the hobby.

Thanks so much
Ron

I bought this strickly for a prop. I haven't looked but I doubt it handles sound at all as it is only displaying a single frame and I'm guessing that trame would be manually advacned. THink of it more like a slide projector that happens to accept several hundred feet of 35 mm film.

That being said, it appears that the company in Miami that is selling these has all kinds of motion pictures projectors (at higher) prices.

I wonder how many people are ordering?

I recently bought a mint working condition vintage Revere 8mm projector on ebay for around 25 or 30 dollars. There does not seem to be a shortage of supply.

Thought it made an interesting contrast compared to all the high tech equipment.

>I wonder how many people are ordering?>

the company is putting a unit out there every few days.

i'm guessing that everyone that wants one will get one

If you are concerned, there is a telephone number that you can call.

possibly they will give you a hint of the supply
