Not sure if this is the right place to post?
I have recently been given an older amp and I am trying to use it with my zen and ipod since it has 2 inputs.
I have no documentation and I am a newbie when it comes to amplification so I don't want to break anything.
The amp is made by Micro Multimedia Labs, Inc. and on the front it says 40x40.
I was told it is an 80 watt amp
model number: TC 1490
input power: 180 watts
When I plugged the amp in and turned the power on the equalizer meter maxed out to the top on both channels. I turned the amp off and hooked up two speakers, plugged it back in and a horrible loud hum is emitted. I tried the same thing with the mic input and the headphone input, same result.
All of the control levels are turned all of the way down and it doesn't seem to matter.
Is there anything I can do to fix the problem or does the problem mean that the unit is fried?

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.
