I have a question about the way my subwoofer is connected to an A/C outlet. I have an A/C outlet that is turned off and on via a dimmer switch. If I turn the dimmer switch on and put the dimmer to it's lowest setting, the red light on the subwoofer comes on. This dimmer switch also controls two sconces. When viewing movies, I keep the dimmer switch at it's midpoint setting. Basically, I keep the dimmer switch in the middle position while watching a movie so that the sconces are not too bright. My question is, do you think I should move this suboofer to a regular power outlet? Would using this dimmer switch to power the subwoofer off and on affect it in any way? Thx

it might not be a good idea using a "dimmable" outlet for the sub ...
yes, I think you should move the sub to a regular power outlet

I'm surprised that you haven't burnt up the switch or the subs amp yet... By running it like that you are putting a great deal of strain on the amps power transformer.

I'll have to get an electrician to disconnect the sconces from this power outlet to somewhere else. It's a long story why it's wired this way but I'll get in touch with him before I have another party.
