My launch day console has fallen. After over 1.5 years of green gaming bliss I've finally seen the red rings. Lucky for me I've still got coverage from my extended warranty purchased from Msoft when new.
I consider myself fairly lucky since I've never had any issues with my console until now.
Called service, get box in 5 days and repair supposed to be done within 2 weeks. We'll see.
I am curious to see if I get the same console back or not.

Don't expect this to be the last repair. I'm waiting for my third console to arrive.
The 2 weeks est. time is pretty accurate though.

Yes, I've read all of the stories of multiple repairs. I've still got another year on my warranty which I assume should extend to the repaired or replacement console.

It's pretty impressive you've managed to have an X-Box 360 for 2 1/2 years when it's only been out for 1 1/2.

True, at the 2 year point you should have donated it to the Smithsonian as a rarity, a launch day console that still works. :)

I for one can relate. I've personally setup a vigil for 4 of my past systems that have died on me.
One candle, 4 serial number tags placed around it. :(
I've got 2 360's and both have been sent to Microsoft because of 3 red rings. I will say the turn around on both was pretty good. I will also say to the OP that you will not get your original 360 back, it will be a different one.
I better knock on wood because I have been lucky so far!

This is getting so old.
Glad I'm not the only one that thinks so.

I'm guessing it will be a refurb with the new heatsinks.
My launch console died about a month ago, and a refurb was here in 13 days. It's a lot quieter (both the box and the drive), and I have had zero issues with it. (Knocks on wood)

Far, far from it.
