Can someone explain something to me? Is it just me?, or does BB and Gamestop have some of the worst HD and BD disc prices?

I walk into Gamestop, and saw a copy of Fifth Element used for 24 bucks  WTF? I thought it was a fluke. Went to another one, and all the BD's were beyond silly in price as well. HDDVD is no better.

We want the average consumer to buy this stuff, not run out the door screaming.

What are some other absurd prices you have seen at places? This outta be fun!

Well, it was Gamestop.

When have they ever been anything other than extortionist in their pricing? Especially for used product on which they regularly derive 100% margins.

That they do. I used to work there just for extra XMAS money during holidays. You should see the look on peoples face

Customer: I would like to trade in Halo 2(just came out a month ago)

Me:Yes, I can give you 5 dollars for that

Hated that!!!

At least BB has sales sometimes on stuff, like HDDVD this past 2 days.

Yes their turn around on prices is horible.
They give you $5 and sell it for $40-45. And new itts $50.

But the worse prices are
Planet earth at Best buy $99 .
Fearless $40
And the matrix movies at CC were 89 and 99.. Amazon had them at 30% less. Just bad.. How can the B&M stores sell anything.

Many have stoped with catalog tittles. Making it seem like only 1 movie comes out every few weeks. When in fact sevral come out each week. They just don't carry them becase they have been on DVD for a few Years..

Movie Trading Company does the same - pays you $5 and sells that movie used for $25

It definitely pays to shop around and not give in to the urge for instant gratification. I almost always buy from Amazon (as long as my 10% discount holds), but for brick&mortar, the place to go in the L.A. area is Fry's, which is heaven to (and a haven for) techies. The selection is much better than Best Buy or Circuit City (including some of the more obscure titles and docus), and the prices are very competitive--many catalogue, non-combo titles are under $20 (well, they're mostly $19.95). Planet Earth, I believe, was $69.
