Why stay away from Cerwin vega. Really i'm in the market for a new system. Speakers thinking of Paradigm monitor 11. Focal 726V Amp wise Pioneer or Marantz, already have a panasonic 50" plasma. Whatcha think

Cerwin Vega sucks for the money and by almost any standards.

I've had CV before, they are mud compared to anything reputable. For the money you could do better with HSU or SVS..

GoodLuck

He shouldn't be looking at CV in that price range.

However, I own a few CVs, and their CLS series is very impressive for the money. I wouldn't call them mud at all.

But I wouldn't pay that much for them. A CLS12 sub should be <$225 shipped.

The towers would cost more, but I've heard mixed result on the towers. The smaller CLS (6" two ways) have gotten good remarks.

Again, none of those speakers should be in that price range. So, yes, he could get better, but CV isn't that bad anymore, at least not the CLS series.

I own both a CV CLS-15s and HSU 3.3 w/ Turbo (pic (http://ded.zenblue.net/cv_15s.jpg)) and unfortunately the CV is inferior in all categories (it sounds muddy compared and has a lot less bottom end extension vs. the HSU) CV used to make some decent home speakers back in the late 80's / early 90's but there quality went downhill since.

Car audio wise CV still makes decent sub models such as the Stroker series.
