Despite the PQ benefits of HDV and the obvious preference of this forum for the Canon, I've decided to go with the AVCHD HDD for ease of use. I'll worry about the editing later...

I'm about to purchase this one (the 2.7" screen and lack of ring controls put me off the new HDR-SR7) and I hope to only ever buy 1 Sony memory stick. I'd like the maximum size - the specs say that this is tested for up to 2 GB Memory Stick Pro Duo. Does anyone know if this will accept a 4 GB stick?

Thanks,

David

I believe the mem stick is for still pictures and possibly MPeg1(320 x 240 max) vids only.

Hi,

I have an SR1 and my 4 GB memory stick works just fine. If you go to the Sony site you will see they have an 8 GB ms for sale, but don't know if it works......I assume it does.

Thanks - it's good to know that someone has tested the 4GB stick. One of the Sony spec sites says it supports a max of 2 GB, the other says it has only been tested with up to 2 GB. I just realized there are larger than 4GB sticks - though since this is for photos only, the 4 gig is probably more than I ever need.

As a side note - I first tried the camera inside, and I was a little disappointed with the picture quality. It wasn't dark inside, but there was quite a bit of noise in the picture when I played the video back on my 720p TV. However, I LOVE the PQ for the video I've been capturing outside. Looks better than most HD TV feeds I've seen. That made me feel justified for buying the camera for my new baby videos... :)
