I hate that I'm writing this thread, because I know the question has been asked before... and I know I get annoyed on the forums I visit more regularly when the same thing gets asked over and over... however search is just being unfriendly and giving me only very old information.

I have a 52 inch 1080i Panasonic HD TV and my old DVD player died. I want to replace it with an upscaling DVD player, but my TV does not have HDMI inputs... only component. The two models I've been able to determine that support upscaling over component are the Zenith DVB318/LGDV7832 and the NeuNeoHVD2081 / Helios HVD2085.

Most stores don't carry these any more, none that I've checked anyway, because they are older models. Are there any newer DVD players that support upscaling over component? What models would you all recommend?

Thanks very much, I appreciate the input.

Here is the simple remote hack.

HDCP FREE!! :)

DVD player powered on
no disk inserted
push "angle"
push "4"
push "3"
push "2"
push "7"
then push "angle" for a final time. I got a response and a visual que that it was done. I powered off the DVD player. Powered up my entire system including the DVD player and now it upconverts via component video
