Hi guys,

I just ordered my mits.hd1000u from a store in ny, i checked the company; it has got an "ok" reputation, but i'm a little bit worried that "how can i understand a unit is brand new or not refurbushed or lamp is never been used..

Actually, really how can you know or what kind of signs will proof that unit is definetaly not refurbushed..Do you think after lamp used it can be reset?

Your thoughts will be appriciated a lot.Thxxx!!!

IF you ever get your PJ, look to see if the original packaging has been opened.

Me, I would call my CC company immediately and cancel my card - tell them it's lost or stolen and ask for another card and go order from one of the alliance members up above. The NY "photo" stores are not your best bet.

anyone??

i think this is very important issue, how are you %100 sure your order is brand new, not refurbushed?

Give Mits cust. support a call and give them the S/N to confirm it's new or refurbed.

Refurbed generally has a sticker or stamp on the box or receipt (by law).

NY is OK as long as it's not Brooklyn, NY.

Otherwise, your new PJ may not have a bulb. :D

There might actually be a legitimate AV company working out of Brooklyn, but you'd be hard pressed to actually find it.

Look at your receipt and see if it says new or refurb. If it says new, have a look at the tag on the PJ and see if it says refurb. Was the PJ in factory packaging and not REPACKED? And, as suggested, call the manufacturer and give them the serial number to see what they say. It might even be a stolen item - it happens.

OR

Purchase from an Alliance Partner as advertised above and quit worrying.

hello everybody,

i've got mine 2 days ago and it's brand new becouse i confirmed from mitsubishi company with serial number, so i'm very happy and thx for all advices.

my first impression about it after 6 hrs using experience is:

pros:

-very bright
-tons of features
-no screendoor from 12' for 100" size screen
-no fan noice in "low lamp set"
-remote works fast
-very nice design

cons:(comparing to 4800 screenplay and s-video connection)

-not good black
-not so crisp(sharp) picture

i try component connection but always i go back to s-video, becouse colors and black i like it better w/ s-video..

if you will put some opinion to get better black and crisp picture i will be very happy( specially for black level increasing)

thx again

:)

1st -- always buy from an authorized dealer for that model.

2nd -- you're using the next to worst connection (S-Video is just one small step better than the composite connection). You should be using either the component connection (3 cable set = Y Cb Cr analog cables) or the HDMI/DVI (digital) connection. You will get much better picture quality if you use the best signal connections. Don't fall into the "Monster" cable trap either (from CC, BB, or Radio Shack), good quality cables are not expensive.

S-Video into a Mits1000U?????????? Are you joking? WHy did you waste money on an HD projector and then use an input that cannot carry HD material????

=============
Having lived there my whole life I can honestly say that the city has the largest number of dishonest vendors in the United States especially in the area of consumer electronics and photo equipment. Been that way since before the internet when they used the magazines for a vehicle of dishonesty. Now they can reach millions more under various names through the internet using search engine "seeding". Many don't have real stores and in terms of many of the ones that do have a store, if you walked into some of them and saw what you were dealing with you would never buy from them.

Since you already ordered, it is too late to "warn you" so I would check resellerratings to find out more about the vendor which is where you should have checked in the first place:

You said: "I checked the company" - Where? And who are they anyway?

i like to make my point clear:

i know for the best picture result i should connect w/hdmi cable or component cable, but i did s-video connection just for temporarly untill i will get my hd dvd player..

my comparing is between infocus 4800 and mitsu1000u is the same s-video connection and i will try this until my hd dvd+bluray combo player gets more affordable price..

i was just corious why infocus 4800 was trowing deep black picture and sharper image than mitsu1000u in same s-video connection..

i hope when i connect hdmi cable i will see real dark and sharp picture.

I just got a Mitsu HD1000U and compared it with my buddy's Infocus 4800.

The Mitsu HD1000U is a brighter projector than the 4800 line, which inheritantly causes issues with black levels on lower end models. The HD1000U black levels are comparable but you need to jump into the tweaks thread and read through that. Changing Setup to 3.75% or 7.5% helps immensely.

Additionally, the blacks are apparently greatly improved after a couple hundred hours of use (I'm not quite there yet, so I can't confirm)

Also, I haven't noticed a difference in sharpness using standard def stuff, but upscaled dvds and hd-dvds on the Mitsu blow the 4800 out of the water. I highly recommend an upscaling dvd player until you move into High Def.

I'm at 350 hours on the HD1000 and I know you are supposed to recalibrate after 100 but, the picture just keeps getting better and better each time I watch it.

It isn't top of the line, but the Philips DVP5982/37 is pretty decent. (I've been using my 360 via VGA, at which point it upscales.. for some reason it doesn't via component.)
