I believe I remember that the salesperson told me my Yamaha DVD-S657 could upconvert for a better picture on an HDTV. Do I need to turn this upconversion on, or does the player do this automatically?

Thanks! :DThe Yamaha DVD-S657 has component out, not HDMI, so it does not upconvert. Its "successor", the DVD-S659, has HDMI output and upconverts, but dropped SA-CD and DVD-Audio support.

Damn, I thought you could run an upconverted signal through the component cables. Thanks, I guess I'll just need to get into one of the new high definition players sooner than I had planned :)
