after the installation found out the receiver can't receive any HD channels broadcast on satellite 129. the installer check the cable lead to the receiver 129 signal was strong there but it never got to the receiver. he suspected it was a bad receiver box even tho it was brand new. so he's coming out tomorrow with a new box. i did some research right now and some ppl mentioned i need an additional satellite to point to 61.5 in order to receive all the HD from the 120 satellite. anyone know if this is true?

the same tech came today, swapped out both the dish and the dvr, still no 129. he even changed the new dish network's 1000 dish with two 500 series dishes, still no answer. maybe i have to go back to my digital cable after all.

Maybe you need to swap out installers and try again.

Finally a cure for 129 fadeouts on the Oregon coast. A forum member in Seatle reported success with a 30" dish. I had already gone from the original separate 18" dish to a 24" dish for 129. Still had so many fade outs I couldn't enjoy most of the new hd channels.

I had a 30" installed a week ago and have no fades at all. I may subscribe to starz and cinemax again. When I go to point dish now I am running 15 points higher than I was with the 24" which is enough to give a solid reliable picture no matter how low the sat goes on it's wobbley orbit. I can now quit worrying about the new Ceil 2 going into the ocean this winter. Except for the 129 problem I have really loved the Dish hardware (622 with 750gb archive hdd). No more thoughts of going Directv.

Now if only Voom would come back I could finally archive classic SciFi and Japanese Samurai movies I enjoy so much...not likely.

If you gave us your location we would understand more about your reception issues. Most Dish Network customers on the east coast use the 61.5 instead of the 129. There are also some difficult spots in the 129 reception primarily in the northwest.
