Just in case, I thought I would ask if there is any chance at all that the new episodes of Monk that begin July 13th will be on Universal HD ?

It seems weird to me to premier episodes on SD, and then months later show them in HD ??

Anyway, no new episodes on UniHD. The July schedule is on the website and it shows Monk still airing on Sundays at 10 p.m., with old repeats from S2.

I was wondering when we might see S5 episodes. I've bought the first 4 seasons on DVD and refuse to watch the show on USA in SD since it looks so horrible in analog cable. But I wouldn't mind recording S5 in HD if available.

...like they are doing with Kyle XY on ABC Family on Monday with the HD repeat on ABC on Friday? :eek:

It doesn't make alot of sense, especially when you consider that USA is one of the channels in DirecTV's list of "coming soon HD" for late this year or early next year.

IF USA has any plans of going HD... why would they not already show things like Monk, Psych, Dead Zone, 4400, and probably others that I'm not familiar with in HD on the UniversalHD channel they already have?

Yeah, they do show Monk eventually in HD... way later... but I haven't seen the other shows I named... They do show some SciFi stuff in similar "way later" fashion... but you'd think they would go ahead and do it now.

Any viewer they have on USA with an HDTV and access to UniversalHD is likely also paying for USA... so they can't say they lost viewers... and if they run the same commercials on UniversalHD as they would on USA for the new episode airing, I can't see how the advertisers would lose out either.

Seems like a win-win all-around for them so I am clueless as to why they do not do it.

Have they ever shown episodes other than season 2 of Monk? I have had Universal HD since the last winter olympics and they have never shown any other episodes since then.

Same thing goes for Law & Order SVU, except they expanded a season, seasons 4 & 5.

At least they haven't followed that pattern with BSG. They had shown all episodes the last run through including all of season 3 that had just finished up on SCI FI channel.
