I tried over in the gaming forum but not alot of action, anyone gaming with a 360 and HD1000u care to share their opin? I know that the VGA originally had a problem washing out colors, but had sense been fixed by firmware on the xbox? If your wondering why I'm asking I'm a crazy neat freak and have everything on a remote HDMI switcher that is controlled through my RF remote :) , and all my devices using HDMI and only a power cable and HDMI cable on a wire track/hider thing going up my wall.. so Squeezing in another 3 component set, vs 1 VGA cable is my concern.

I don't have that projector but I do game on my LCD projector and i've found that the VGA cable looks better vs component even in 1080i. Im not sure why but I get a crisper picture with VGA on my projector, however on my hdtv in my living room I get better picture with component than VGA. As for the VGA washing out, i've had my Xbox since Christmas with both sets of cables, no wash out on VGA.

I have used both component and vga with my mitsu and in my opinion it is a no brainer to move up to vga. Truthfully, I don't think the colors are as vibrant with vga, but the picture is much more crisp and clear. The biggest difference was with the lettering in some of the games. It really pops. In first person shooters, you will be able to see further and in driving games like forza the distant cars are clearer.
I use the 360 with my Mits HD1000 w/ a VGA cable and I have to say, the picture is fantastic. I hate playing on my friend's SD tv because it is so hard to notice enemies in games such as Battlefield 2 or GRAW. I use the VGA because I did not have a component switcher, and the component cables were being run to my DVD player. Highly recommended as you also get the bonus of an upscaling DVD player to boot.

So is there a 360 VGA adapter, and then I need a male to male VGA cable since my projector is a decent distance from my 360?
Correct, The Microsoft VGA cable comes with a male/male adapter so your set, unless you need an extension for the VGA.
If you weren't able to A-B compare VGA to component (say, you didn't have VGA run to your PJ, for example)... would you say component has any notable deficiencies? Or does component look great, and then when you see VGA, it's even better?

On both my 40 inch LCD tvs and Optoma HD70 VGA looks much better. It seems its a better cleaner signal coming in then with component. I think the colors are slightly better only on my tvs, but on the projector the VGA colors look the same but PQ is still better. Its worth to get the VGA just for upconverting regular DVDs, it makes a really big difference, much better than my 100 buck DVD upconverting player
Hmmmm... I only ran Component and HDMI to my projector location. Wonder if there are any receivers out there with VGA in, HDMI out. :P
