I am looking to upgrade our 4805 to a High Def model and was trying to find out if there is a good drop in replacement. Current screen size is 114" and the throw is about 17' I have been EXTREMELY happy with the 4805 up to this point, but I think there is a little bit of room for improvement on the high def content, esp at this size and 16'ish seating distance.

I guess I should add I have a fixed screen mounted 23" up from the ground and 8' ceilings. I remeasured throw distance at 16.5' so the Mitsu 1000 might work, but I think I would have some finangeling to do on it.

I replaced my 4805 with a 1000. Simply modified the old 4805 mount and was up and running. Very worth while upgrade. My basement HT room is 19 feet deep with the projector at about 17 1/2 feet from the 122" screen. Sold the old 4805 on ebay for $475, but that was 7-8 months ago.

Did you find the lens shift to be about the same? That is what is coming up quite differently on my install. I have a little room in my mount to move the lens up some, but I run out of ceiling room prior to getting the screen to the correct height - at least according to their calculator.

I hate the idea of getting a PJ with more pixels, then having to use keystone corection.

It's close I did tilt the 1000 up slightly. If you measure the image its like 112" across the top and 111" across the bottom. I did't keystone to correct this because you can't notice it at all.

That might be a good option for me too then...thanks for the information. At least it sounds like if I have to use Keystone it will be a very small amount.
