I happen to be visiting my cousin in NY this weekend, and IO Cable provides NGCHD. We happened to be browsing through channels last night and stumbled into "Eye of the Leopard" on NGCHD just as it was getting started.

We were immediately intrigued, and proceeded to sit totally enthralled for the next two hours. Every minute throughout we kept looking at each other saying "how the f#$% did they get that shot???"

If you saw "Beavers" in IMAX and wondered how they got those shots, you'll be similarly bedazzled with this 3-year biography of a leopard mother and her daughter. The story is primarily about the daughter.

JUST AMAZING!!! How in the world they got those shots is beyond me, I don't care how many cameras they had involved in the project.

And just as wonderful, the surround sound was totally eerie and superb. You really thought you were in the jungle.

So, here's the strongest recommendation I can make. Don't miss this one (even if you have to watch it in SD).

Thanks for the heads up. NGC HD is going to show "Eye of the Leopard" again tomorrow morning at 11:00 AM CDT and I have set it up to record.

Indeed, just set the DVR, thanks.

Is this a straight documentary? I watched something with a leopard and a little boy a few weeks back, don't recall the name of the film, but it had some outstanding image quality. I think it was one of the Voom channels.

I'll wait for it to come out on HD-DVD like the othe NGeo shows, sat quality is good, but HD-DVD is way better.

mmm...good idea, that's what I did with the Planet Earth series as well.

Thanks for the tip...Just amazing. Not only was the content ant the PQ outstanding, but the 5.1 surround sound was awesome. In one scene I thought it was raining in my TV room. Thanks again!!

Let me see if I understand this correctly.

You have NGC. Regardless of how much better the HD DVD or BD will be (which certainly won't be by much), the current showing looked extremely good and was eminently watchable. You have no idea if this show will come out on HD DVD or BD tomorrow, in two years, or never. Yet, you won't watch it now because you'd rather wait to see a slightly better video presentation.

Did I get this correct? If so, I just don't understand the logic. I'd certainly rather watch a very good presentation today and enjoy it today that to wait for a marginally better disk based version that may never come out.

Yeah, really. What if you spend all that money on it and it turns out you don't like it?
