I have been happily watching my Sharp XR-11XC for a year. Just wondering if moving to the Epson 400 or Z5 would be a worthwhile upgrade? Are the black levels on these lcd comparable to the XR-11xc? I am projecting onto a PBMAXX diy painted wall. About 90% light controlled. Seating at 13-14 feet. Only reason I am considering lcd are the lense shift options. No problems with dlp rainbows or eye fatigue. Projector is currently 16 feet from screen. Usually 110-120 inch screen when shooting 16x9. 120x80 if I have good enough video quality on 4x3. Painted the whole wall so I can do whatever I want with screen size. Never watched an lcd pj. Your thoughts please!

I'd recommend upgrading to an HT/HD 16:9 DLP instead of LCD. The contrast difference will make you longing for your XR-11XC which is a business DLP especially without the rainbow issues.

Mits HD1000u/Optoma HD70 720p for <$1K is a budget upgrade and no brainer.

Sharp 12000 MKII 720p DC3 with irises at certain warehouse site locally and online can be bought at Cost... and is an excellent value for $2K.

Optoma HD80 1080p should be excellent for the money.
