A friend of mine who is as obsessive as I told me this was the definitive AV forum so I thought I would post some questions in hopes of help. I have an RCA Scenium DLP set which has apparently exhausted it's lamp life (set is about 2 years old, but probably on too much). I have noticed a slightly dimmer picture for a while and today when I turned it on the blue lights on the front came on and I could hear the set "wind up" only to have the screen go blank after a few seconds and the front lights blink off then come on again. After looking at the manual and online it would appear as though this is the "blink code" for a bad lamp. I have done a little looking for replacement lamps and I guess some places sell bulb only or whole lamp units with costs ranging from $150 for bulb only to over $400 for a new assembly. Any suggestions on whether I can replace the bulb only myself and how to do that (The TV manual only has instructions for replacing the lamp assembly, not just the bulb) or if not, where can I find the least expensive lamp assembly while not sacrificing quality. Thanks in advance for your replies!!
