I want to hook up my 360, pc, ps3, ps2 and upscaling dvd player to a home theater system and then up to my hd1000u. I want to get a reciever that switches the inputs if you know what I mean. I can spend 300 at the most. Sound quality doesn't have to be the best. Anyone? Please help.

What kind of cables will each device use? If you can keep everything component it will be easier. I know the 360 can use component, and the elite can use HDMI. Which 360 do you have, and which cable are you using with it? PC can either be HDMI or VGA. PS3 can either be HDMI, or component, but I think you need to use HDMI to prevent down-scaling...not sure though. PS2 can be component, and your upscaling DVD player can possibly be DVI, HDMI, or component.

The problem is that even the very expensive receivers don't have this plethora of inputs.

Possible solution:
1- run HDMI cable from PS3 directly to projector. This assumes that the PS3 has another means of getting sound out to your receiver/speakers.
2- run VGA cable from PC to your projector. I prefer DVI, but your projector doesn't have a DVI input, and HDMI switching isn't cheap.
3- Denon has the AVR-587 listed at $299 on their website. It has 3 component inputs: 1 for 360, 1 for PS2, and 1 for your DVD player.

You will be switching at the projector, and at the receiver, but at least you won't have to juggle cables around.

My receiver only has 2 component inputs, and I have 5 component devices, so I use an automatic external switch (Audio Authority 1154) in conjunction with my receiver. It works great and is auto-sensing, so when I turn on my wii or PS2 it automatically switches to the powered device that has priority. I run my PC directly to the projector with a DVI-to-HDMI cable.
