Hello,
I am having an issue with my FP. I cannot seem to get the focus completely sharp on my FP. If i sharpen one corner the opposite corner becomes slightly out of focus. Reading through the posts suggests that this may indicate that the lcd panels need to be alligned. If so, is this something i can be done at home without any specialized equipement?
Hopefully someone here will have experienced something similar and offer some advice. This is the last obstacle that i need to overcome to reach HT nirvana.
I should mention that i am perfectly comfortable opening up the FP, and have done so on numerous occasions previously to clean out dust globules.
TIA

Have you had this problem all along, or has something changed? Since you seem comfortable opening your projector, I wonder if you may have inadvertently changed something to cause this? It couldn't hurt I suppose to go back over what ever you did in there last to see if all is well.

If you zoom it's 'Normal' the more you zoom the more distorted the corners will be.. at those price the glass used in Projector isn't prestine. it's just like a TELEPHOTO Lens.. a 299.99$ you get 300mm.. but corners at 300 will be OOF..

I think i have actually had this problem since i received the unit many years ago. I initally thought the focus issue was normal and that it was the result of the unit being mounted too far off center. During my last cleaning i decided to check the focus with the unit on my coffee table and noticed that the picture would still not come completely into focus. It is not noticable when viewing dvd's but when the unit is connected to my PC and text is displayed on the screen the focus issue is more apparent.

If the zoom is indeed the cause shouldn't the result be that the picture will be out of focus at all four corners. My problem is that when i focus for a sharp bottom left image the top right starts to become blurry.

I am guessing that projectors have minor differences in the positioning of the display elements in the light beam. This causes one corner to go out of focus first. You may be able to compensate by moving the projector slightly off center and/or tilting it.
"Lens shift" is used to compensate for a forced off center mounting position, but some corner blurring may result here too.
Electronic keystone correction often degrades the picture so you will probably not want to tilt the projector so far that you need it.
