I think this was HDNET, not sure, but they showed Krull last week. Yes its one of my favorite movies (cult classic). But what I was more impressed with was the stunning HD quality. Some scenes where on par with shows filmed today like Planet Earth, travel shows, etc. I was really impressed that an almost 25 year old movie transferred so well. Whoever did the transfer should do everything because I watched Deep Impact on TNTHD and it was HORRIBLE PQ. Truly amazingly bad. Blury, grainy, everything, just horrible. And here a 25 year old movie had fantastic HD quality.

I was impressed that a film this old (83?) look so dang well in HD. Seems no PQ degenerations over the years.

The showings of Deep Impact that I have seen on TNT-HD have all been stretch-o-vision upconverted 4:3 SD. Of course, it looks terrible. I saw some of Krull on Univ-HD. Yes, it did look good, but, honestly, it is an really cheezy movie.

HDNet Movies has shown a number of movies made in the 1950s and most of them look outstanding.

Watched parts of this and recall its impressive PQ, too. Probably unrelated, but noticed at imdb.com that some 70mm blow-up prints (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085811/technical) could have been involved at 2.20:1 as well as 2.35:1 35mm prints. Blow-up wouldn't originate greater detail but perhaps aids PQ if used for the telecine/downconversion--just to speculate. -- John

Good B movie. Watched most of it on UHD this weekend. It did look quite stunning for such an old movie.

I was channel surfing this past weekend and came upon UHD and wondered what was this new movie they were showing. Imagine my surprise when I found out it was actually a 25 year old movie! Like others, I was very impressed with the PQ.

Krull is by no means a "B" movie. I remember reading the Marvel Comics adaptation of it before watching it in the theaters.

The rule is that if Marvel does an adaptation of a movie, then it cannot be considered a B movie (exception - Swamp Thing ... but they were intentionally going for the B movie feel).

Marvel did an adaptation of a DC character????You're thinking of "Kull (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kull)", this is Krull (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krull_(film)) , two totally different stories/characters.

I saw it not great but not bad either. I am waiting for a sequel, that part in the narration in the beginning something like: A king and Queen will rule the world and their son will rule the galaxy. Its been 25 years the Son is old enough to fulfil that prophecy. I know it probably wont happen but I would want to see it.

I loved that movie. I caught part of it this past weekend and my wife just rolled her eyes after about 10 minutes and said "why are we watching this?". I said, "it's a classic!"

channel was quickly changed...

I just watched off my DVR. Good production values makes an OK movie very good. It has excellent cinematography, it's shot in beautiful locations, it's got an absolutely wonderful score performed by the London Symphony Orchestra, good actors (look for Liam Neeson, Robbie Coltrane, and other famous character actors from across the pond), and the list goes on. On top of that we get a nice clean OAR transfer to boot.

I would probably pick this one up in one of the HD formats if it ever showed up.

Looks to be Columbia Tristar on home video, so I guess BD. Strange that I watched it on Universal HD though...

I thought the quality of the broadcast varied quite a bit. I noticed a lot of film dirt and white specks popping up on certain scenes, while other scenes looked quite good. I thought the quality could have been better and more consistent.

The movie was as cheesy as I remember when I saw it theatrically as a kid.

Oh man!

This is one of my favorites! I need to record this one for sure.

Classic movie and score by James Horner.

So many great moments in this one!

I can't really bring myself to record anything on UHD anymore. What with the forced 5.1 and pop-up promos.
