I never understood the point of these products.....maybe because I've never seen an optical drive stop working due to dust/grime. I've seen motors fail, pickup transports fail, focusing actuators fail, even a laser failure. But never a problem of a dirty lens.

Am I correct to say the cleaning fluid is non conductive, as that would be expensive to get liquid on the internal electronics if it caused a short.

In my experience most people would not be affected by dust, but if there is a lot (and I mean visibly floating), then this may improve the pickup response.

I've seen my share of optical failure due to dust and grime. Clean the gunk and the drive works well again. Also don't forget that when the optic is dirty, the laser needs to "shoot" harder, hence shortening the life of the laser head.

When I used to repair optical drives, I see this happening at least once a day.

PS: I strongly recommend AGAINST the wet type, however.

I agree. My SD DVD drive on the 360 wasn't working. cleaned the lens and it's working fine.

Does this item have a little bush attached to the content side of the disc?

yes. You don't actually need an "HD DVD" lens cleaner. Those cheapo Maxell CD lens cleaner will suffice.
