I asked the sony sales guy if Sony had any rear projection TV that did not loose picture quality if it was placed on a large mantel that would be almost 5 feet from the ground. I know all DLP's and LCD's loose vertical and horizontal picture quality when you're eye site is not directly in the middle of the screen. But does anyone know if this is true for this particular sony rear projection t.v.?

Maybe you could find a way to rig the set so it points down at the viewer?

Rear projection is kind of like a movie projector sending an image to the middle of the tv. If you are not looking at it level to your seating position you begin to loose definition of the pic. Not totally sure on Sony but any of these tvs start to loose pic quality as you move away from center viewing, some more than others. I don't think you want to point a tv down, keep it level.
