Hey guys. I am looking for a 70+ inch tv and i stumble on the toshiba 72HM196. i read great review for this TV. I am in Canada and am able to get a display model or a new one. Here are the prices.

Display + 4 years Best Buy Warrenty (bulb 1st year) - $2999 + taxes CDN = $2750 US

New in Box - just TV $2999 CDN = $2750 US, no extra warrenty
or with 4 year best buy warrent for $ $3300 CDN = $3000 US

which one would you choose? are these good prices?

I paid 3850$ + taxes (Can) + 550$ extra warranty last september...

2999$ warranty included seems good but you'll probably need a new bulb (200-300$) soon for the floor model.

I didn't realize you were talking about the HM, I bought the MX version.

To answer your question I would consider newer models... But I like 72".

yeah, was looking for an MX, but can't find it anywhere. as for newer models, are there any 70+ inches for the most $3500? the reason i am considering this older model as it is a good value for 72 inches and had good reviews on it. too bad the new toshiba dlps are the most 65 inchese.

A good price but this Tv doesn't accept 1080P on any input. Even the HM197 sets this year only accept 1080P on the HDMI.
And the HM197 sets are inexpensive. I got my 65" for $1700 total from Circuit City.

aaronwt how does your new Toshiba compares to your calibrated Samsung? I spend a lot of (too much) time trying to fine tune my Toshiba (in the service and user menus). I recently final obtained the results I was hoping for. I feel Samsung sets are a little better color wise especially out of the box...

hey guys. thanks for your input. as for the new 197s, it isn't up here in canada yet. i picked up a display model for the 72HM196 today for $2750 CDN +taxes including a 4 year extending warrenty and delivery and he gave me 10% off everything else i bought. it is coming on thursday. not to get a shaw HD box.
