Ok, Stupid question......I have basic (no box) cable, and a antenna. My qam tuner should work out great for receiving my cable stations, and my atsc tuner should work out great for receiving my locals ota.
But here lies the problem, my television has one coaxial input for ant/cable. I do not want to get a cable box, but I do want to have both basic cable and my antenna hooked up to this television all at once, without having to disconnect the coaxial cord each time.
Can a A/B switcher pass an HD signal through it? Will it effect the ability for the Qam tuner to do its job? How about the ATSC tuner?
Thanks for your response ahead of time!
Yes you can use any cheapo A/B switcher to select the signal. The problem will lie in how your TV switches between QAM/OTA. Most TV's will not remember the channel list when switching between signal types and force you to rescan the channels. You should check how your TV handles the switch before buying anything.

In the hopes that this information will help some people ...
I can confirm that the Sharp LC46D62U has separate channel lists for the Cable/QAM and ATSC tuners. You have to scan each one individually, but after the initial scans, you're set.
It's just a matter of going into the menu and switching from Cable to Antenna (or vice versa).
I would be willing to bet that the other sizes in the 62U series would act the same. I would also be willing to bet (although a little less confident) that the 82U and 92U TVs behave similarly.
BTW, you may be able to get your OTA-HD Locals using the QAM tuner, thus making the antenna/ATSC set-up unecessary.

Thanks for the quick response guys. The reason I need this set-up is for FOX, I cannot get that in HD through cable/qam. Thanks.
