Has anyone used the Oppo DV981HD with the new Samsung LED engine DLPs- specifically the HLT line (I have the HLT 5087s). Oppo said the these two maybe compatible due the new LED engine.

For a little more, you can into a Toshiba HD-A2 HD DVD player. Otherwise, I would suggest going with the Oppo 970 instead.

I agree with Eliab. The Faroudja players like the 981 have been prone to macroblocking with DLPs. Sony upscaling players, the Oppo 970, and the Tosh do not use Faroudja chips and thus would be a better match.
