I'm thinking of buying an interim (Until the HD Blu ray sorts out) DVD player but my receiver (Sherwood Newcastle 965) doesn't have HDMI. Will I still gain with an upscaling player such as a Sony NS75H? The display is a Panasonic projector 900Ae.

This is commonly asked; look for threads in this forum with "component" in the title.

Note that current players no longer allow upscaling over component; not even the HD-DVD or Blu-Ray players will do this for SD-DVD sources. The industry wants you use HDMI.

Firmware hacks are available for some models to get around this. The Oppo 970 is popular here.
