Has anyone found a dvd player that can play these files? I have 4 players and nothing can play them and some don't even show up in the menu screen.

The Pioneer DV-400V can, but only on CD-R discs. A *.wmv file won't play if burned to DVD+/-R discs. (According to the manual)
You can pick one up from Best Buy or on-line.

It is also a great upconverter all the way to 1080p. Very reasonably priced.

Here's an excerpt pulled right from the Pioneer's user manual:

About WMV

WMV is an acronym for Windows Media Video
and refers to a video compression technology
developed by Microsoft Corporation. WMV
content can be encoded by using Windows
Media® Encoder.

• This player is compatible with WMV9 files that are encoded by using the Windows Media® Encoder 9 Series, with .wmv as an extension.

• Compatible with size under 720 x 480 pixels.

• Advanced Profile is not supported.

• DRM-protected video files will not play in this player.
