View Full Version : Dante's Peak delivered!
Macroblocker 06-26-07, 04:57 PM Just got Dante's Peak HD DVD today and I am looking forward to checking out the PQ. I have a feeling it wont be much better than maybe a 3 star PQ as it was never remastered but I really like the movie and I am hoping its a nice upgrade.
not sure if anyone else is really interested in this title but I will post a screen pic or 2 anyways. :D
Brad1963 06-26-07, 05:02 PM I'm curious on how it looks. I recieved notification today that THE WAR shipped, and I should have it by the weekend. But I held off on Dante's Peak until I got feedback on it.

Please do!!! I love this movie and look forward to its general release.
Numanoid101 06-26-07, 05:08 PM I always liked this movie and was contemplating a HD purchase if it looks good. I just DVR'd a version that was on some crappy cable channel (not a movie channel) and it's horrid in broadcast standard def.
i like this movie too, tell us for the pq.
thewretched22 06-26-07, 07:15 PM If its not to much, would you mind taking pictures of the package? I'd really appriciate it, looking forward to your impressions as well.

no prob, I can do that :)
lgans316 06-26-07, 09:04 PM I have seen Dante's peak many times in cable and I don' t except any more than a 4 star PQ.
The outdoor scenes will shine with heavy contrast and colors whereas post eruption it's going to be Grey and dull.
Kram Sacul 06-26-07, 09:08 PM If it's the same transfer I've seen on HDTV then it will be pretty mediocre.

Which HD DVD player do you have? Almost every post you have here in the HD section is a negitive one for the HD DVD format, why is that ? If you dislike it so much then stick to the BR section.
Macroblocker 06-26-07, 09:19 PM Wait.... how do I post pics so they show up in the room as opposed to just a link?

I apologize if I've come off as a little negative. I just want to know how these catalog titles are coming along, on either format, before I sink money into them.
A lot of these films have already been seen on HD channels and it appears that some of what we're getting on disc are the same old transfers (Bruce Almighty, Daylight, etc). It's disappointing. I hope that's not the case with Dante's Peak, mostly because I'll probably end up buying it.

I was PLEASANTLY surprised with the picture quality! (Certainly better than the Daylight and 40-Year Old Virgin HD DVDs!) Here's the link to my review:
