View Full Version : Brotherhood Season 2? Rick W 06-26-07, 11:25 PM Has anyone heard about the chance of season two of Brotherhood? Thanks, Rick jpr281 06-27-07, 01:23 AM Showtime has renewed the show for a second season, consisting of 10 episodes (bringing total episodes to 21). The 10 episodes began production sometime in the fall '06/winter '06 and are scheduled to air starting September 30th. From the Brotherhood wiki article. Rick W 06-28-07, 05:28 PM Thanks JPR281, That's great news. I really liked the show. I will be setting my tivo. Rick BBQ-AllStar 09-30-07, 07:37 PM Best drama on TV... period. Only Sopranos years 1-3 beat it. Only 3 hours left... :) PooperScooper 10-02-07, 08:50 AM I'm surprised nobobdy has posted here. (I didn't see any other threads). I watched the first episode last night and it seems that season 2 won't be a let down. The previews for upcoming episodes look great, too. larry Don S 10-02-07, 09:03 AM Yes indeed. Very interesting start. This is a great show .. gwsat 10-02-07, 09:55 AM I, too, think that Brotherhood is off to a great start. Michael’s disability from the beating he took at the end of last season adds a meaty new element to the new season. Tommy’s and Eileen’s relationship is getting more interesting, too. Tommy is bitter and angry at Eileen’s infidelity and drug abuse, and his coldness and barely suppressed rage are making Eileen crazier than ever. I can hardly wait to see what happens next. PooperScooper 10-02-07, 03:18 PM I guess you didn't watch the previews of what's upcoming for the season. :) Good stuff. larry jaypb 10-02-07, 04:59 PM Glad to see there's a thread for Season 2....though I'm shocked there aren't more posts/views! I've told anyone/everyone I could for the better part of 15 months that they need to watch this show. I love the way Tommy played off the sting to nab the fella who wouldn't go along with Judd's plan. Good stuff..... Don S 10-08-07, 04:20 PM Wow, no postings after last night yet. There must be a lot of DVR viewers (I am one). Another strong episode for this series last night IMO. The cousin looks to be (predictably ?) destructive, and an interesting character. I'm glad that Mary Kate is given some redeeming (if only political) value in her role as wife, as I love to see her on screen. Michael seems to be heading for more bad times unless he can prevent his "blackout" episodes it would seem. Showtime definitely has a winner with this series (and 2 counting Dexter).:) archiguy 10-08-07, 05:47 PM This show is just flat-out terrific. It's probably heresy to say this around here, but I think it's better than the much ballyhooed 'Dexter'. This show needs to get some of that show's props. bwaldron 10-08-07, 08:50 PM It's probably heresy to say this around here, but I think it's better than the much ballyhooed 'Dexter'. This show needs to get some of that show's props. I agree. Bruuce 10-08-07, 10:08 PM I loved season 1 so much, I'm going to be giving the box set away as Christmas presents. Ph8te 10-09-07, 10:54 AM I am still watching it and I still like this show a lot. SOme of it has to do with the fact that I used to live on the street where the Caffreys live in the show though. Also, its kind of nice to see the local places in the show. PooperScooper 10-09-07, 12:54 PM Seems like a new "wild card" entered the show from Belfast. :) Also, I wonder when Michael is going to get tired of Moe and do him in. larry jaypb 10-10-07, 08:07 AM Seems like a new "wild card" entered the show from Belfast. :) Also, I wonder when Michael is going to get tired of Moe and do him in. larry "It's Jeff" Dammit.....:D PooperScooper 10-10-07, 09:47 AM Michael needs to carve "Jeff" onto Jeff's chest when he does him in (if he does). larry bwaldron 10-10-07, 09:52 PM I am still watching it and I still like this show a lot. Seems people n Hollywood think all New Englanders sound like they are either from Mass or Maine . Sometimes I cringe when they are trying to talk, I mean really is it that hard to jsut drop all of your r's :) gwsat 10-11-07, 09:44 AM This show is just flat-out terrific. I think that the overall talent level of Brotherhood’s cast probably is higher than that of Dexter’s cast. That said, to my mind at least, Dexter, as played by Michael C. Hall, is in a class by himself. Dexter’s other characters, though, often seem two-dimensional. Dexter’s sister, Deb, and Sergeant Doakes come to mind. On balance, I continue to find Dexter more compelling than Brotherhood but it’s a close call. PooperScooper 10-11-07, 10:12 AM I like them both and they're both well done. Picking one or the other, to me, would be which type of story or "genre" you like better. Brotherhood is the type of show that can just keep going since it tries to mimic real life in a way. I really like Dexter but even if they do a Season 3 that could be pushing it and trying to get more blood out a the stone. :) larry Don S 10-14-07, 11:41 PM Another awesome episode this week. The show really manages to create fantastic character depth. You can just feel yourself in the position of the characters. This series just gets better and better. Although I have really liked this show from the beginning, it continues to surprise me with how good it is. PooperScooper 10-16-07, 08:59 PM Another great episode. More Sopranos vets showing up - Christopher's mother. :) larry UTV2TiVo 11-12-07, 04:34 PM Another great episode last night. Lots of subtle nuance in this show. Like when Tommy realized that his effort to push the police into cleaning up the neighborhood by ridding it of the Dominican drug dealers only opened up the market to Michael's drug business. As good as this show is I can't believe there aren't more posts on it. PooperScooper 11-12-07, 04:44 PM As good as this show is I can't believe there aren't more posts on it. Me too. This show is up there with the best shows that HBO and Showtime have done. I'll be watching last nights episode tonight. larry Don S 11-12-07, 08:27 PM Lots of subtle nuance in this show. Like when Tommy realized that his effort to push the police into cleaning up the neighborhood by ridding it of the Dominican drug dealers only opened up the market to Michael's drug business... Very true. What Tommy also realized was that cleaning up that neghborhood just about lost him the election. He has shown to be very quick on his feet as a politician though and managed to stave that off. It was a really good episode again. This year no one seems clean ... Tommy, Mary-Kate, the cop, Michael (of course), all the other politicians. This show is largely unnoticed due to the vast acclaim of Dexter. It really is a hidden gem... rkhopkins 11-12-07, 09:12 PM I love Brotherhood. (and Dexter, Californication,Weeds) Who would have guessed that Showtime would become THE indispensable channel? The last episode was an interesting character study showing how both Tommy and Michael have to make unpleasant choices in their respective professions. Not a very flattering depiction of politics, I must say. Loved the wife meeting up with the mistress at the end. DSperber 11-26-07, 11:33 PM Finally cleared out the NINE episodes of "Brotherhood" (i.e. the entire season so far!) that had accumulated on the DVR. This was Thanksgiving weekend, so I did a marathon. Just watched the last one. It was ironic that yesterday's episode was itself a Thanksgiving themed show (and what a disaster, all around!). Wonderful stuff. Great characters, and great story lines. I really enjoyed last season, but this season tops it for sure. A lot more texture. Another terrific adult drama from Showtime. I'm now sorry to see the finale this coming Sunday. Will we really have to wait another year for Season 3??? Murilo 11-27-07, 12:36 AM Last nights episode was great. Some people I know claim its slow, but it usually does so to get the viewer comfortable and put them in a spot with the characters and then something big happens. Last nights episode was on of the finer examples when micheals cousin came in to shoot freddy while they were playing goldfish, seemed like such a real normal setting it really caught my attention. I am still surprised there isn't more talk on this show. We are local to the area so that tends to help out, but this show I think is perfectly paced. It may be slow for some, but for me and my Fiance it is great. Showtime has taken over our Sunday night viewing with Dexter and Brotherhood back to back. It may be slow for some, but for me and my Fiance it is great. Showtime has taken over our Sunday night viewing with Dexter and Brotherhood back to back. The pacing is fine by me. It's not really any different in pacing from any other super-rich super-textured multi-character high-quality adult drama... e.g. "The Wire" over on HBO is also similarly "slow" yet fabulous, and equally addicting. I had offloaded the final 7 episodes of last season's "Brotherhood" to D-VHS last year when my DVR was nearing capacity, in anticipation of watching them sometime in the future. I ended up grabbing the wrong tape first and thus watched the final 3 episodes without having first watching the previous 4. When I decided to do my marathon this past weekend, I struggled with a decision to either watch those older 4 episodes from last season first (even though I'd already watched the final 3, and knew how the season ended), or just start with this new season's episodes and maybe just blow off those unwatched 4 from last season. As it turns off I decided to start with this season, but to keep the tape with the unwatched 4 just in case I still wanted to watch them. Well now that my marathon is over, and there's only one more episode for this season on Sunday, I've decided to go back and watch those unwatched 4 from last season. It will give me yet another 4 hours of this wonderful story to enjoy. It will be sort of like a "prequel", or "back-story". Gooddog 12-04-07, 11:49 AM I started watching Brotherhood this season. It did not grab my attention at first but I hung in. Now I look foward to it each week. One of the best shows on TV. I hope it is renewed for next year. archiguy 12-04-07, 01:22 PM Was this past week's episode a season finale? Seemed a little underwhelming for that, especially considering the way the first season ended. But if so, I guess we'll see a marked difference in Michael and Tommy's relationship now that Tommy has essentially admitted he was willing to see Michael killed by not tipping him off. swamphhh 12-04-07, 03:15 PM Was this past week's episode a season finale? Yea, nothing like last season's cliffhanger. Its almost as if they didn't think it would be renewed. Ph8te 12-04-07, 06:59 PM Yea, nothing like last season's cliffhanger. Its almost as if they didn't think it would be renewed. +1, No cliffhanger and it almost felt like it wasnt supposed to end. But the revelation at the end was good. Hopefully it will comeback as I have heard the numbers havent been too bad for Brotherhood. It would be interesting to see how it played out now that the lines have been drawn between the brothers. |
