I'm down to these two rear projection sets for my purchase. They are different technologies and size and have different features, but everytime I look at rear projection sets at BB or CC, these two sets are the ones that stand out for me and I can't make a decision.
I had originally waited for the new Panasonic 1080P 58" Plasmas, but for the price, I was not convinced it was worth the extra $2000.
The Sony seems to be getting steady feedback; the Mits has gotten either raves or rants.
Let me hear from you owners and observers. Thanks

I was an owner of the Mits 65732 for a month. I returned it and went with Sony KDS60a2020. Before the Mits I had SONY KDS60a2000.
The Mitsubishi is a nice set. To me there was a lot of edges and motion blurness. The Mitsubishi to me was too sharp and displayed a lot of the flaws with Time Warner Cable.
The Sony to me represents the BEST possible picture available on a RPTV. To some it may be on soft side but you can easily adjust the sharpness to give you the PQ you want.
The Mitsubishi, no matter the settings I tried, the PQ was really sharp and you could see edges to lines that were not supposed to be there and a lot of the motion blur that comes thru cable tv.
Sony does a good job smoothing that all out that you barely see it. Its still there because its the cable signal, but the SONY processes it better.
Overall, my choice is SONY. have had it and still have it.
Now if features is what your looking for, then the mits may be your choice, mits has PIP, TV guide, etc.

Do you feel that the Mitsubishi had any advantage over the Sony at all? Like deeper blacks, better contrast, etc? Were you ever bothered by the "rainbow" effect that sometimes can occur from DLP projection sets?
I used to own a front projector a couple of years ago that I noticed the "Rainbow" effects and found them annoying, but the reviews on the Mitsubishi makes it sound like the newer technology DLP sets have eliminated this issue for the most part.
I find both these sets to be very appealing. The styling of the Mits is very nice and at 65" is quite impressive, but having read the threads on this particular model, it does sound like there have been some technical problems.
Any guess as to what the contrast ratio is for these two sets? Thanks!
