I've been searching the forums for some time now, but I can't seem to find anything similar yet.

I have an older HLN-507W set, and when I power it on lately, it exhibits the following behavior:

it does its warm-up cycle (usually takes 20 seconds or so to turn on)

at the end of 20 seconds, when usually the screen comes on, it turns itself off and does another warm-up cycle. This can happen 2 or 3 times in a row when finally the screen comes on, and everything is fine.

It doesnt seem like the bulb is going out, but what could this be?

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated, or even a link to a proper thread from the masters of search. Thank you...

It does sound like a failing lamp or ballast, but nothing is certain. How many hours do you have on your lamp?

I have 4700 and change... I've definitely gotten good life out of it. Just wondering if i should replace the lamp and the ballast, etc., but i cant be certain as to what is failing.

Thank you so much for your reply... I will swap the ballast out! Can you guys reccommend where I can order a balast and bulb from? Usually when i look online, there are multiple compatible ballasts and bulbs.. is there a specific one i should buy?

www.samsungparts.com should have the ballast and lamp for your set. Determine whether your lamp is Toshiba or Philips, then choose the ballast and lamp accordingly.
