I just bought a sony HDR-SR7 wich is a hdd based camcoder and when I want to store the HD video on the PS3 it does not see it only SD video :( I spent $1500 on this and it totally sucks.

I called customer service but this guy from god knows where did not have any idea what he was talking about he asked me what a PS3 was and if I was sure it could handle HD media, I'm hoping this being a Sony product would be compatible but it looks like its not. This camera has 2 weeks in the market could that be the reason? would I have to hope for an update to fix this :( it apparently uses AVCHD for trasfering HD data..

Thank for your time.

Hmm, I have the HDR-SR1 and I can get the PS3 to recognize the files with ease.

Basically you just connect the camcorder to the PS3 and highlight "USB Device (camcorder)" in the PS3 video menu. Then press the triangle button on the controller. When you do that it will bring up a menu. Select "display all". Then, (for me), 3 folders appear. You want the one that says "AVCHD". Opening that folder will bring another menu with "BDMV". Open that folder. :) That should open another menu with 3 more folders. You want the "Stream" folder. And that folder should give you access to your HD movie files.

Good luck :)

Most recent Sony Handycams support Dolby 5.1 recording.

When you playback your recorded content (or stream) on your PS3, does it play it back in Dolby 5.1 or Stereo???
