View Full Version : How many HD DVD titles not available on Blu ray?
I already have a blu ray player, but considering adding an HD DVD player. The biggest part of this decision, of course, is trying to figure out how many more movies this would give me access to. In other words, how many movies are available on HD DVD that are not already available on Blu ray?

OK, but how many movies is this? Perhaps a few dozen? More? Many more?
alpha21 06-28-07, 04:18 PM don't forget Weinstein and Imports
it's not really the quantity, it's the quality.
DrCrawn 06-28-07, 04:21 PM A hell of a lot. The Warner titles are not "a few" at all. Try 23 I think. Search threads created by me, I listed them last week.

Universal has released over 100 titles on HD-DVD I believe. I tried finding the exact number but couldn't come across it. Warner has about a couple dozen HD-DVD exclusives and then there is Weinstein as someone mentioned.

Lee, is the above list of 22 all by the same studio? If Universal, that is far fewer than the previous poster indicated. And I assume the Weinstein movies, while generally quite good, are relatively few in number. If the total number of movies only available on HD DVD surpasses 100, then I am mighty tempted to jump in...

The list of 22 posted is ONLY Warner Brothers movies (neutral studio) that are exclusively available on HD DVD. Yes, I know neutral exclusives sounds like an oxymoron. In addition, there are a little over 100 Universal titles (sorry, don't have a list), along with the following Weinstein titles:
Black Christmas
School for Scoundrels
Pulse
Clerks II
Feast
Scary Movie 4
Lucky Number 5leven
Derailed
Wolf Creek
All told, the number of currently available exclusives is right around 140.
EDIT: Now I see my post was wholly unnecessary. :)
I counted 125 titles from Universal (announced and released)
A thread like this should be a "sticky" & I'm against stickys!!!
However, a good reminder of why we're HD DVD.
Maybe, an exclusive list & import list (not combined, just next to each other).
It would help everyone from turning Blu!!!

LOL, too funny. And even better, its the version that doesn't rot from the inside out! ;)

I agree, someone should make a thread and start from scratch with all the releases included here. But whoever does it needs to be in it for the long haul and keep it up to date. Then we can ask for a sticky. :)
