Good stuff. Any idea what the gameplay is like yet? Is this built on the Civ 4 engine or something new(er)?

Civilization: Revolution
Trailer HD
Platforms: PS3, XBOX360
Build a sprawling civilization from the ground up, controlling the globe through peace or military might.

All CG, no gameplay. But it's going to be awesome :D.

Yeah, that was funny. I played the trailer all the way through and they didn't show a single millisecond of actual gameplay. Teasers like that usually have like a split second at the end to, well, tease you.

Its the CGI trailer he always wanted to make of the game he always wanted to make?

Ugh, is there going to be such whining with every trailer?? "No gameplay," "It's all CGI," "Wake me xx months when it's closer."

Rinse, lather, REPEAT.

Ugh, is there going to be such whining with every whiney comment?? "You guys complain too much", "Are you EVER satisfied?", "NOTHING is good enough for you."

Rinse, lather, REPEAT. :p

No, frankly I couldn't keep up with all the whiny comments in this sub-forum if I tried. It's a full time job with LOTS of overtime!

This game seems real interesting being that you're going through not just one time period such as the time of the Roman Empire or The Renaissance or something but instead you're going through it all ... I'd like to see how that plays out.

Yep, that's how they are. You start as a settler and work your way through time into the future. The goal in the original game was to either build a spaceship to get to Alpha Centauri or of course to conquer all the other civilizations.

This looks very good, and it will be interesting to see how the interface will be handled. I don't expect it to be a straight transfer of PC editions, but instead something unique since it's made for consoles. It looks more story-oriented, and hopefully it will be just as deep and engaging.

What? I didn't see anything about a PC version. I understand the desire to develop games for the hot new game consoles, but strategy games such as this should be kept on pc's, as they are too frustrating with the stupid gamepads

Not everyone prefers KB/m to the console play with a gamepad.

There probably won't be a PC version, as this is being built from the ground up specifically for consoles. It remains to be seen how they will handle the interface and control, but it doesn't seem that they will be shoehorning a PC game (with keyboard/mouse control) onto a console this time.

It sounds like it's either going to play like an RPG or a better-integrated version of ActRaiser. Either way, I'm sold :)

But by alerting me that there was no actual gameplay footage, they kept me from clicking on the link. So I appreciate the heads up.

I guess I don't understand the concept. Cool CGI but would like to see some idea as to how the game is actually played. It goes on the watch list though...

The concept IS the reason for the trailer. It's still way too early in the development process for gameplay.

I'm hoping for KB/Mouse control options. If anyone would do it, it'd be Sid. If he ravages the Civilization series to fit it onto a gamepad I'll be very disappointed.

From the CGI it looks like you might have an Alpha Centauri gameplay option too, given that the spaceship drawing shows up on a rock. Who knows...

That was why I made that comment. To be informative, not sour. So, you're welcome :D

I can't really imagine playing an RTS without a mouse. They're so uh.. pointer intensive. But if there's someone who can make it work, it'd be Sid.

Should be a turn-based strategy not RT, unless Sid's gone crazy and destroys his Civilization legacy.
