View Full Version : Help with my Logitech 720 and Dish Network 721

The remote software keeps wanting to set the Dish 721 up as two separate units, a PVR and a SAT Tuner.

Even with that it will still not control it.

The 721 is "IR" friendly as I am using an HOME THEATER MASTER remote to control it.

How do I set up this thing?

I am not familiar with the DN 721, but I did set up a Harmony 720 with the DISH ViP 622 HD Sat receiver and PVR. I had no issues. It worked without any tweaking. I just added a PVR menu button (to get to the library of recordings) in the LCD area.

That's probably not much help, but I hope it gives you some encouragement!

So you have it set up as a "PVR" only?

It's not in my house, so this is from memory, but, isn't it always in PVR mode anyway? So that you can pause live TV when you want to? That may be where you went wrong, but I am fairly confident that the issue is a simple one and that a call to tech support should sort it out in minutes (a bit of a pain on the West coast because I think they close at 4.00 Pacific).

Try that tanneritekid, or if not PVR, ans SAT only. I am certain that we did not have two separate activities set up. You just press "pause" and it pauses live tv. I seem to remember that the |<< and >>| buttons work for commercial skip forward and back too. All the satellite menu, info and guide buttons all worked straight off.

You might also want to add a "Live TV" button to skip straight to live if you don't like using FF to just fast forward to live.

I guess Ill have to call a level 2 tech, the set up menu's tell me that my sat box will not work on "IR" signals. Which is not true.

The 622 is definitely set up for IR. Works really well. Something has obviously got mixed up somewhere so getting tech support is probably wise.

Any experience I have had with tech support (only called them once) was excellent (miles better than HP for my desktop BTW). The level 1 tech took only minutes to decide she needed a level 2 tech. The level 2 tech took only minutes to solve the issue, then asked me to plug in the remote and he fixed the whole thing remotely (this was on a XP PC, I have no idea if it works the same with earlier OS systems).
